چکیده

Persons participating in a 5-day diagnostic protocol were routinely typed for ABO, Rh, MNS, Kell, Kidd, Duffy, P, Haptoglobin, phosphoglucomutase-1 (PGM-1), and acid phosphatase (AcP). The study population was composed of 164 normotensive whites, 34 normotensive blacks, 161 whites and 43 blacks with essential hypertension, and 52 whites with secondary forms of hypertension (18 atherosclerotic renovascular hypertensives, 17 patients with fibromuscular disease, and 17 patients with primary aldosteronism). There were no significant differences in phenotype frequencies in ABO, Rh, Kidd, Kell, Duffy, P, Haptoglobin, PGM-1 or AcP in any of the comparisons. However, there was a significantly different distribution of MNS phenotypes in comparisons of essential and atherosclerotic renovascular hypertensives with normotensive controls. Essential hypertensives had a lower frequency of the S gene and a higher frequency of s in whites (X2 = 12.21, p less than 0.005). Atherosclerotic renovascular hypertensives differed from the normotensive population in the frequencies of both MN (X 2 = 4.34, p less than 0.05) and Ss (X2 = 4.21, p less than 0.05). The finding of disease-blood group associations supports the hypothesis that there may be significant physiological differences between individuals of different blood types.

Association and Distribution of Hypertension, Obesity and ABO Blood groups in Blood Donors

Abstract Background Hypertension is a major health problem, especially because it has no clear symptoms. It is strongly correlated with modifiable risk factors such as adiposities, age, stress, high salt intake. Overweight and obesity is conveniently determined from BMI and visceral adiposity is determined by waist circumference. ABO blood group is one such factor which needs to be investiga...

ATP2B1 rs2681472 and STK39 rs35929607 polymorphisms and risk of Hypertension in Iranian Population

Background: ATP2B1 and STK39 have been introduced as essential hypertension candidate genes. The association of these genes’ variations have not been studied in Iranian population yet. Here we aimed to investigate the association of ATP2B1 rs2681472 and STK39 rs35929607 polymorphisms with the risk of hypertension in an Iranian population.    Methods: We inclu...

Case-control study on peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma polymorphism and interaction with HDL on essential hypertension in Chinese Han

Objective(s): To investigate the association of single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptors gamma (PPARG) with essential hypertension (EH) and additional role of gene– high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL) interaction. Materials and Methods:A total of 1640 patients with EH (806 males, 834 females), with a mean age of 52.5±12.6 years, were selec...

Association between Red Cell Distribution Width and Hypertension in Tabari Cohort Population: A Case-control Study

Background and purpose: Red Cell Distribution Width (RDW) is a parameter that measures changes in red blood cell size reported in a complete blood count test. In this study, we aimed to identify the association between RDW and hypertension in Tabari cohort population. Materials and methods: In this case-control study, case group included all patients with hypertension (n= 2281) participating ...

In 1996 Grinspan et al presented the association between primary hypertension and diabetes mellitus as Grinspan Syndrome. Through various studies, Researchers have noticed that epidermal lichen planus cells show enzymatic disorders as well as defective carbohydrate expression. Therefore, it was assumed that there is a relationship between cells and hormones in metabolic actions. Besides, some...
